Willy Lim's team tops Corn Tee

CEBU - The Wellington Lim-led team 1 lived up to being the first to sign up for the Corn Tee of Club Filipino Incorporada de Cebu in Danao City as it ran like a well-honed race car taking the title with a flourish from the pole position.

The team scored a total of 327 points in two days on rounds of 160 and 167 to bag the overall title. Lim scored 40 and 41 points and was ably backed by teammates Katy Katigbak (45-43), Emil Alviar (39-43), and William Lim (36-40).

The 36-hole four-man team event where all scores counted, used the Modified Stableford Scoring System.

The awards ceremony was held Tuesday night at Teatro Casino inside the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

The class A title went to team 30 skippered by Hospicio ‘Razy’ Razon with a two-day aggregate of 316 points. Razon scored rounds of 43 and 37 and his teammates were Marlo Cugtas (44-41), Felix Villanueva (41-37) and Romeo ‘Boy’ Alegre (35-38).

Runner-up honors for the premiere handicap class went to team 11 led by Alvin Alazas with a total of 308 points. Alazas had an outstanding performance shooting rounds of 47 and 40. His teammates were Erwin Siao (39-41), Chris Kokseng (37-37), and junior golf standout Gio Gandiongco (33-34).

Team 31 of Luis ‘Louie’ Moro III took the class B title with a total of 323 points. Moro fired rounds of 38 and 42 and his teammates were Toby Florendo (36-40), Macky Michael (43-45), and Dino Yap (41-38).

Pete See’s team 18 took the runner-up honors with a total of 319 points. See scored 36 and 29 while his teammates were Edwin Espina (36-43), Sim Guinocor (48-45) and Loloy Sabuga (39-43).

Jerry S. Uy’s team 21 won the class C diadem with a total of 319 points. Uy fired rounds of 36 and 40. His teammates were Jet Neric (45-35), Gerry Gollon (46-38), and Tony Sikimhua (39-40).

Runner-up honors went to team 26 captained by Manuel ‘Jun’ Zosa, Jr. with 317 points. Zosa fired rounds of 38 and 34 while his teammates were Boboy Arevalo (44-42), Pete Cinco (32-47), and Rene Tariman (41-39).

Dr. Sim Guinocor had the best score of the first round with 48 points while Felipe Cinco had the best record for the second round with 47.

The best team score for the first round was logged by the foursome of Jewrry S. Uy, Jet Neric, Gerry Gollon, and Tony Sikimhua with 166 points.

The team of Willy Lim, Katy Katigbak, Emil Alviar and William Lim with 167 points had the best second round score.

The major sponsors of the four-day were San Miguel Corp., Pagcor, Duty Free Phils., Development Bank of the Phils., Landco-Monterrazas de Cebu and Mazda Cebu.
