G & S stuns J-Art in GAA

The G & S International pulled off a 104-99 overtime upset over the fancied J-Art in the wildcard phase of the Guadalupe Athletic Association (GAA) 9th Founder’s Cup basketball tournament at the Guadalupe Sports Complex.

Don Guillen nailed a crucial short jumper to knot the count at 89-all  with eight seconds left to play in the regulation period, thus, sending the game into overtime.

Guillen then joined hands with Jumie Ararao and William Jabines in delivering the winning points for G & S in the extra period.

Ararao, a fomer CIT Wildkitten, led G&S with 26 points, while Jabines and Guillen chipped in 17 and 13 points, respectively.

Jimbo Noel charted a season-best 46 points for J-Art. Yokyok Alesna scored 18 and Jun Felicitas had 11 points in a losing cause.

Also, McMill Enterprises defeated Agencia Grande, 85-81, behind the combined 52-point explosion of Shawin Jacalan and Arvin Vertudazo. Former USJ-R Jaguars pointguard Allan Ricaña paced Agencia Grande with 22 points.

In the other games, MGR skinned the Tigers, 100-79, while Evan Hulga Hardware of Raul Hulga devoured Pan Borikat, 83-65.
