Four teams bearing their respective corporate sponsors are vying for top honors in the 43rd season of the Cebu Professionals Basketball Association (CEPBA), Inc., billed as the “President Emiritus Ernesto Elizondo Cup” at the YMCA gym along Osmeña Boulevard, this city.
These are the Toyota Otis-Manila, Cebu Integrated Arrastre (CIA) of former Cebu City Councilor Elizondo, Hotel Fortuna of noted sports patron Lorenzo “Chao” Sy and Yayoy’s Grill of incumbent City councilor Raul “Yayoy” Alcoseba.
CEPBA, which now boasts of 68 members, was formed on September 21, 1965.
In the 43rd anniversary of CEPBA, Inc. to be held at the Olympic Hall of Baseline Restaurant,
there will be an awards night as well as the induction of the new set of officers.
What made the event more significant is that the championship trophy is donated by no less than President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
The tournament, which follows a double round robin elimination format, holds two games every Sunday at the YMCA gym. (GGM)
