Pa and daughter lead View Invitational
The father and daughter tandem of Deo and Irina Gabasa holds the first round lead after two days of action in The View Invitational 2008 at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club in Pardo, this city.
Deo fired six-under-par 42 points in the Modified Stableford Scoring System and his 13-year-old daughter matched that output with her own 42-point performance for a total of 84 points.
This four-day event calls for the teams to play two rounds.
The tandem of Rolando Alberto and Hospicio Razon dropped to second spot with their first round output of 81 points on rounds of 43 and 38 respectively.
The View Invitational is the club’s annual member-guest event. At stake for an ace are a Kia Picanto from Gateway Motors, a Club Car golf cart, P200,000 cash, a lot from Sta. Lucia Realty, a class A share from Aznar Bros., a trip to
The water softener worth P65,000 will be raffled off in case nobody will win it as hole-in-one prize.
A Skygo motorcycle is also up for grabs for an eagle on all par-4 holes. In case more than one player will score an ace or an eagle, the prizes will have to be equally shared.
At third spot is the tandem of Alfredo Tan (39) and his brother-in-law Junnie Cimafranca (39) with 80 points.
Four teams made 79 points apiece and these are the duos of Carl Almario (41) and Fernando Mondares (38); Jufil Sato (42) and Hubert Calan (37); Alex Garcia (40) and Michael Mendoza (39); and Hansel Ong (40) and Elpedio Ong (39).
Eduardo Manzano (38) and Vic Ramos (40) are a point further back with 78 points while Ed Alegrado (32) and Clifford Celdran (45) made 77 points.
Participants will be classified further under three divisions based on the average handicaps of the team members.
A total of 200 teams are seeing action in the tournament, which is the maximum that organizers would accept.
The awards ceremony will be held tomorrow evening at the AVGCC ballroom.
The biggest backers of the tournament are Taiyo Yuden (Phils.) Inc. and Globe Telecom.
