Coke survives Black Arrow in friendly
The Coca-Cola dribblers of businessman Allan Lim scored a 107-106 squeaker over Black Arrow Security Agency of Lando Almojallas in a goodwill match that highlighted the awarding rites of the Punta Princesa Sports Association (PPSA) Barangay Cup 2008 over the weekend at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Gym.
Grizzled veterans Rey Maraño and Robert Abasolo went on a shooting rampage as Coke stymied Black Arrow’s third quarter onslaught led by the tandem of ex-CCC Executives Joshua Alguno and three-point artist Ahmed Lozano.
Coke later forged a 77-all deadlock in the crucial stretch, with Lito Navarro’s excellent quarterbacking contributed a lot to their marginal win.
Maraño and Abasolo paced Coke with scored 30 points each.
Black Arrow also got 30 points from Alguno, while Lozano chipped in 18 markers.
In the other game, the PPSA All-Star B humbled the PPSA All-Star A, 108-96.
PPSA president Douglas Beltran and vice president Lim were on hand to award the cash prizes, trophies and medals to the top performing teams and individuals. Dandre Baclay bagged the coveted MVP trophy.
Baclay outrightly made it to the Mythical Five together with Rowel Sumalinog, Louie Navarro, Rocky Bacalso and Freddie del Campo.
Meanwhile, Lim, manager of AMBL Enterprises, announced that he will organize a basketball tournament for players 30 years old and above on July 6.
