Two of the top officials of the Philippine Sports Commission will be here in the Queen City of the South today for the blessing of the newly-renovated PSC-VII office at the Cebu City Sports Center.
PSC chairman William “Butch” Ramirez together with PSC executive director Fr. Vicente Uy will be at the blessing and afterwards will hold a press conference.
The PSC-VII office was put up during the time of the defunct Philippine National Games in 1996 under then PSC chairman Philip Ella Juico with Romy Cruz as the first regional director.
Cruz was later replaced by Bebot Cordero during the time of Chairman Carlos Tuason and the office was renovated for the first time.
When Cordero was assigned back to the main office, DepEd assistant PESS chief, Danilo Villadolid took charge of the PSC office.
Fr. Uy was named as the last regional head while Villadolid is the regional coordinator.
After Fr. Uy’s appointment as executive director of the PSC last year, no one has been named as head yet.
The PSC-VII office had been flooded thrice according to a PSC staff before the renovation materialized.
The renovation started last March and ended last April, but due to the hectic schedule of the PSC chairman Ramirez, the blessing was reset to today.
Aside from the blessing, The Freeman learned that there are equipment for gymnastics that arrived from PSC-Manila which would be turned over to the care of the regional office. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
