Although the participants would not want rain to spoil the fun, the saying “when it rains, it pours” indeed is holding true for the 1st Albino D. Gothong Memorial Golf Tournament that tees off today at Alta Vista Golf and Country Club.
This is AVGCC chairman of the board Engr. Matias B. Aznar III offered an additional hole-in-one prize for hole no. 15, a class A share from Aznar Bros. Realty.
Also at stake for an ace on hole no. 15 is a Hyundai Tucson from Hyundai Cebu.
Club Car has put a golf cart on the line for an ace on hole No. 2 while Gateway Motors (Kia-Cebu) is putting a Sportage at stake on hole no. 8 and a Picanto on no. 13.
A Yamaha motorcycle from Norkis Trading is at stake for an ace on all five par-3 holes.
In case more than one player will score an ace, the prizes will have to be equally shared. The ceremonial tee off will be held this 11 a.m. on hole no. 10 with Oly Dychangco, president of AVGCC; Arturo Go, representing the Gothong family; and Ricky Aznar of the AVGCC board to hit drives.
The awards ceremony will be held tomorrow starting at 6 p.m. at the Cebu Grand Convention Center along Arch. Reyes Ave..
Entry fee for the event is P3,000 and giveaways can be claimed after the player completes his round today or tomorrow.
A. D. Gothong Manufacturing maker of the popular Bambi Edible Oil is the diamond sponsor of the event held in honor of the company’s founder, who passed away last year.
Ideal Builders/Vazbuilt is the platinum sponsor of the event, which is open to both members of the host club and guests.
Security Bank along with Gothong Southern Shipping are the gold sponsors.
