Leizl Lumindas-Getaruelas, Cebu’s road running queen, proved that she’s not only good in footrace but also in the field of kayaking after bagging the women’s singles title in the 300-meter sprint race of the Bugsay 2008 Kayaking Festival over the weekend at the South Road Properties.
Fresh from a champion’s finish in the Queen City Footrace, Getaruelas of Team Holiday Spa overpowered Theodedys Camiguing of Team IMS and Naga City ’s Joy Dehillas of Team Val 2020, who occupied the second and third sports, respectively.
In the men’s bracket, Team Davao’s Arnel Gabutero reigned supreme after outclassing fellow Davaoeño Paulo Dino Ouano. Zugbugsay’s Buzzy Budlong copped the third place honors.
It was a twinkill for Gabutero as he and partner Paulo Ouano topped the men’s doubles. Team Habagat’s Alan Salazar placed second followed by Team Bohol’s Theodore Dumaluan and Peter Monde.
On the other hand, Jehan Capada and JR Tapsadan of Team Val 2020 ruled the mixed tandem category. Getaruelas and Charlito Esparar wound up second, while Team Habagat’s Paulino Dino Ouano and Melody Redillas settled for third.
