The Cambaro-Looc RH Warriors recovered from a sluggish start to trounce MEBA, 94-84, in the continuing action of the 3rd GBLC (Guizo-Bakilid-Looc-Cabancalan) Basketball Tournament the other night at the Cesar F. Cabahug Memorial Sports Complex in Brgy. Looc, Mandaue City.
Four players cashed in double figures as the RH Warriors assumed the solo second place with a 4-1 win-loss record. Former CIT Wildcat Tony Baclohan scattered 16 points followed by team captain Emmanuel “Boyet” Almario with 15 markers.
Toto Solon and Richie Mesa each scored 12 for the RH Warriors, who suffered a six-point deficit at the end of the first period, 10-16.
The RH Warriors, however, ran their offense in full throttle in the second period where they outscored MEBA, 41-23, to take a dozen-point lead at the intermission, 51-39.
The RH Warriors were in full command from that point on. MEBA incessantly stayed within striking range and pulled within just a hairline on several occasions, but Rex “Wawaw” Fernandez and Boyet Almario hit bigtime shots to buffer the Cambaro-Looc hoopsters to triumph.
In the other game, the Renan de la Rita-led Bakilid Ubra escaped with a hard-earned 109-105 victory over E2J2 to keep its championship bid in motion.
De la Rita is the one spearheading the GBLC cage league together with Jun “Ador” Deiparine, Reylan Marababol, Allan Magale, and Kokoy Cabahug.
