It’s all systems go for the 2nd Cebu Beach Soccer Competition in Moalboal on May 17-18 with over 30 squads taking part.
Something big is at stake in the event, not in terms of prizes and fame but a slot in Team Cebu that will represent the province in the National Beach Soccer in San Carlos City on May 31 to June 1.
Although the selection for the Cebu team is close to the upcoming national battle, Dido Aviles, chairman of the beach football group here, said they will just make use of the tournament as an added exposure for the local players especially that the sports is just new here.
Aviles plans to form a 20-man training pool wherein the best players will be fielded in several out-of-town events.
Registration is pegged at P2,000 including a free use of an open cottage and a free ride back and forth at the venue. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
