The 1st Congress-man Red Durano International Road and Mountainbike Championships will formally be launched at 11 am today at the La Puti-Sykes branch.
The competition, scheduled to be held from May 3 to 4 in Brgy. Manlayag Patag, comme-morates Danao’s 20th year of active involvement in mountainbike.
Among the events to be featured are the cross country (seven kilometer loop), downhill (2.5 kilometers), and the grueling road race that covers a total distance of 130 kilometers.
Registration fee is pegged at P300 inclusive of a souvenir t-shirt and pack lunch during the race day. Cyclists who are interested in joining the race are given only until April 30 to register. Late registrants will be assessed with a P400 entry fee.

Danao City, situated some kilometers North of Cebu, takes pride for having hosted the 3rd Asian Mountainbike Championships in 1997, the1st Southeast Asia Mountainbike Championships in 2001, and the mountainbike event of the 23rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games hosted by the country in December 2005.—Methuselah C.
