The China-bound Sally Mae Siso demolished Macy Gonzales, her teammate at the RP Juniors team, in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0, to take away the girls 14-under title of the Hilado Cup yesterday at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex tennis courts in Vito Cruz, Manila.
The Cebuana top netter enjoyed a first round bye, then came up with a 6-0, 6-0 whitewash of Joy Yuen. In the semis, Siso pulled off another lopsided 6-2, 6-0 victory over Jana Pena.
Siso shoots for a double this morning as she takes on either against Gonzales or Samantha Coyuito in the girls 16-under final.
Siso advanced to the final round after clobbering Enah Baba, 6-1, 6-0 in the penultimate round.
Siso, who is supported by the University of San Carlos-South Campus, Dunlop, Atan Guardo, and well-wishers from Capitol Parish, is likely to figure in a grudge rematch of sort with Gonzales, is the latter gets past Cuyiuto.
Right after the championship, Siso, Gonzales and Shanine Olivarez will leave for China to see action in the 2008 Asia-Oceania World Juniors Championships set from April 21 to 27 at the East Lake Tennis Club in Shenzen. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
