Sanchez dominates enduro challenge
Donkie Sanchez showed he is not only the fastest in his class, but also the best among the rest in the Castrol Power I Enduro Challenge the other day in Calambua, San Remigio.
Unlike the other "hardcore" motocross riders who played safe or stopped in the middle of the race, Sanchez raced like there was no tomorrow.
Sanchez completed the close to four-kilometer course of uphill and downhill climbs on natural terrains in only 11 minutes.
Sanchez won the novice class barely a minute ahead of Christopher Voss. Rex Barbaso finished third with the time of 12 minutes and 17 seconds. Joshua Panoldi was fourth followed by John Flores.
Overall, Sanchez had the fastest time registered, according to event organizer Lou Ornopia.
In the executive division, Beoping Chua flashed his trail riding skills well and finished first with a time of 18.32.
Chris Micuba trailed Chua with an18.4 clocking followed by Felipe Montejo at 18.56. Arvin Montejo placed fourth in 18.56, while Noli Rom was fifth spot in 21.15.
In the beginner's open, Bato Quimson got the top spot with the time of 12 minutes and 45 seconds. Maynard Ladeza wound up second in 14.18 followed by Banjo Molinar at 17.42. Russel Gungob copped the fourth place honors at 19.32 and Jonathan Tapayan landed fifth.
Many dared to compete, but not all finished the race as the other riders were reserving their energies for the 10th Ornopia Cup, which also serves as the third leg of the 2008 MS Motosuit Motocross Series, also in Calambua. The race was still being completed as of this writing yesterday.
The first ever enduro race in Calambua was sponsored by Castrol Power I in cooperation with Imarflex Battery Manufacturing, MS Motosuit, Keiz BZ Motor Sales, Cebu Progress, Norkis Trading Corporation, Cebu Reliance, 888 Headercore Muffler Tech, NC Racing, RMO Motorparts, F and FO Motorparts, CEVETCO, and Engr.
