Host Bowlingplex Tenpin Association (BTA) and Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association (CETBA) shared the spotlight in the Philippine Junior Bowlers (PJB) 1st Quarter Bowling Tournament-Visayas at Gaisano Bowlingplex in Brgy. Banilad, this city.
BTA and CETBA both ended with three titles in the Under-23 event.
Jomar Jumapao of BTA-Prima, who was elevated from the major class to the collegiate division being a member of the national training pool together with Alexis Sy and Kim Lao, was unopposed in his class. He grabbed the gold with a total of 1,299 pinfalls in six games.
Another BTA-Prima bet, Xyra Cabusas, was also without opponent in the junior girls but showed she is worthy of the gold by toppling down 836 pins in five games.
Misha Co was the third BTA-Prima bowler who snatched gold via the girls majors division with 953 pinfalls. She edged out CETBA’s Josephine Cornejo with only 596 pinfalls in six games.
CETBA, however, bounced back through the efforts of Jake Yap, Maurhic Ivan Padawan and Gefphil John Buya.
Yap dominated the boys majors division with 1,139 pinfalls, while Padawan got the boys junior class title with 953 pinfalls. Buya ruled the boys bantam category with 572 pins.
The tournament was witnessed by PJB head coaches from Manila, Angelo Constantino and Botchock Rey. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
