2nd Copa de Casino Español to include swimming, bowling

-

From five last year, a total of seven events will now be contested in the 2nd Copa de Casino Español with the inclusion of swimming and bowling, the organizers announced during the grand launching of month-long sportfest the other night at the poolside of Casino Español de Cebu.

Copa de Casino Español sports director Nonoy Tirol told The Freeman that the swimming event, which is scheduled in  April and May, will be for kids. This is being done because the children are having their summer vacation already.

“We would like to promote fitness and wellness among our members, and we would like to include the children this time,” said Tirol.

“The other schedules of Copa de Casino were moved to May so we could attract more participants. We would like it to be a total family affair. However, this is not an exclusive event for Casino Español members only. We are also open to friends who are interested to join this sporting event,” added Tirol.

With this, Tirol is confident they would be able to surpass last year’s number of entries that almost reached 400.

Aside from bowling and swimming, the other featured sports in the Copa de Casino Español are golf, set on May 2 at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club, tennis, Texas hold’em poker, billiards, and badminton.

In golf, a Kia car and a Skygo motorcycle are up for grabs for a hole-in-one. In case nobody will hit an ace, the motorcycle will be raffled off during the awarding ceremony.

The champion in each event will receive a trophy and some freebies.

Registration is still going on until the end of April. Entry fee is pegged at P700 inclusive of dinner and gift items during the kick off salvo. For more inquiries, one may keep in touch with Rudy Rubi of Casino Español at 253-1260.—Marigold P. Lebumfacil, Correspondent
