CEVA bares new members, calendar of activities for 2008

The Cebu Volleyball Association (CEVA) welcomed new members and revealed its calendar of activities for year 2008 during a general assembly yesterday at the Casino Español de Cebu.

CEVA president Glenn Anthony Soco said that CEVA staged such gathering to express their intent of supporting all those who are involved in the sport regardless of their affiliations.

CEVA wants to develop the sport up to the grassroots level, hence, they are keen on harnessing the talents of young players in a bold attempt to produce Cebuano volleyball legends someday.

Today, CEVA will handle the Liloan Open in the municipality of Liloan. The group will also take charge in the San Remigio Beach Volley on May 10-11 and the Cebu Open, which will kick off after the Shakeys V-League.

Aside from running tournaments, CEVA will also spearhead a series of workshop, clinic, training and seminars not only for its members but also for all the disciples of the sport in the entire province.

The other highlight of yesterday’s event was the proclamation of the new  of CEVA members.

They are Claire Anne Manalili, Kent Castrial, Ian Alfornon, Wendell Wasar, Julian Reales, Manuel Bolic, Maxel Semblante, Joseph Gonzales, Giovanni Devero, Sherry Cortes, Neil John Diola, Margie Lugana, Raul Culpar, Brian Dalanan, John Abas, Belinda Limyugente, Florianne Guttierez, Desiree Valian, Jessie Yongco, Leolu Tagalog, Mary Joy Bonita, Cristy Aina Laroga, Jerome Capada, Ace Binghay, Nagiel Gonzales and The Freeman editorial cartoonist Ramesh Rosillo.

CEVA gets better and bigger each year under dynamic leadership of Glenn Anthony Soco (president), Andrew Choachuy (vice president), Jun San Juan (operations), The Freeman managing editor Nimrod NL Quiñones (marketing and PR), Nonna Catipay (executive director), Juditha Bonita (secretary), Marilou Ramirez (treasurer), Thelma Barina (auditor), and Eugene dela Cerna (advisor).

The Board of Directors include Jerry Guardo, Atty. Joseph Gonzales, Ryan Aznar, Paolo Garcia, Balamban Vice Mayor Ace Binghay, Glenn Anthony Soco, Antonio San Juan Jr., The Freeman’s Nimrod Quiñones and Andrew Choachuy.
