Night race soon

FULL POINT - Nimrod Quiñones -

Before those who watched Sunday’s Petronas Formula-1 Malaysian Grand Prix can shake off the buzz from our heads due to the noise of the engines, organizers are now talking about making it better.

A night race might take place next year and I did not get that news from the papers on the day we left Kuala Lumpur, but from the guy who brought us to the airport, who seemed so excited about the whole thing.

The reason for the night race is so that the whole world can see the race on television.

The Singapore Grand Prix this September is reportedly going to be a night race, but that is not yet final and subject to final approval by the body running Formula-1 races, the FIA.

While there are pros to holding a night races, there are many other concerns that have to be addressed also most especially on the aspect of safety.

Let’s see what is going to happen next and I have heard that this early many are already looking forward to the Singapore GP and next year’s Petronas Malaysian GP.

It was only on our last day in KL that I learned that I was with the VIAGRA boys of Cebu.

Yes, but not the blue pill.  They are members of the Visayan Islands Auto Gas Retailers Association and were guest of Autogas Petronas.

Aside from being taxi operators, they also retail LPG, which run their vehicles.

The operators who were with us were father and son Richard and Richie Cabucos, husband and wife Chiquito and Lilia Obeso, Richard Corominas, Cardinal Lim, Virgilio ‘Billy’ Nacario, Terence Blanco and Mayo Perez.

We were also joined by Nagiel Bañacia of city hall and his son John.

I did get a few messages from friends yesterday about the column on the race and if there’s one thing I can really say about it is that the experience was noisy, but a great one.

I’m already looking forward to the next time I can watch a live F-1 race.

Here are some more pictures from Sepang.
