Cebuano bets dominate Camotes Island bikefest

The Cebuano pedal-pushers proved to classy in dominating the cross-country event and the Team Time Trial  of the 3rd Mayor Al Arquillano National Bike Festival in San Francisco, Camotes.

Team Kalit led the charge as the Cebuanos swept all three classes highlighted by a 1-2-3 finish in Class A.

Team Kalit, manned by cross-country open division winner Albert Basirgo, Robert Villaber, Elmer Navarro, Delfin Delfin and Gino Basergo, recorded the best time of one hour, nine minutes and 21.11 seconds.

The Antonio Nebria - skippered Cebu Province finished second with the time of 1:12.03.80 followed by the Talisay City squad of Jaybop Pagnanawon in 1:14.49.75. Team Leyte placed only fourth with its 1:17.17.94 clocking.

The Danao Bikers Club, on the other hand, claimed the class B crown, behind the efforts of Marzon, Jun Taneo, Jesryl Ramonida, Rudy Cordero and Kirbie Malazarte who clocked in 1:19.34.59.

This time, the Leyteños wound up second with 1:21.47.46 followed by the Tacloban City-based TORBO with 1:23.13.44.

In class C, it was the All-Terain Bikers of Guadalupe (ATBOG) which grabbed the top post. Ruel Hinayas, Renario Mapalo, Arnel Pepino, Ervin Gadapan and Moises Pongasi put their acts together in registering the best time of 1:31.56.27.

The Camotes Off Road Bikers Organization (CORBA)-I got the second spot with the time of 1:32.27.05 in the Sports And Fitness Enthusiasts (SAFE)-managed event.—Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
