3 Cebu bowlers make it to RP training pool

Three Cebuano bowlers earned slots into the national training pool owing to their impressive showing in the Philippine Bowling Congress (PBC) Visayas-Mindanao eliminations over the weekend at the Gaisano Bowlingplex in Brgy. Banilad, this city.

They are Jomar Jumapao, Kim Lao and Alexis Sy - all members of the Bowlingplex Tenpin Association (BTA). Their entry into the training pool gives them a chance to represent the country in international competitions.

These include the 2008 Asian Championships on July 4-13 in Hong Kong and the World Men’s Championship on August 21-31 in  Bangkok, Thailand.

Jumapao snatched the lone slot available for the male contenders in the Vis-Min area by outclassing the Tiu brothers, Clark and Clarence. After 20 games, Jumapao toppled a total of 4,195 pins to top the elimination round.

In the distaff side, Lao and Sy posted a one-two finish to join Jumapao in the RP training pool. Lao finished with 3,839 pinfalls followed by Sy with 3,692.

The Vis-Min elimination was sponsored by the Filipino-Chinese community in Cebu through the Cebu Inter-Family Youth Association (CIFYA).—Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
