Dewfoam ‘88 pads win streak to six in CECABA

-

The rampaging Dewfoam ‘88 notched its sixth victory in a row with a 71-53 drubbing of Chester Enterprises ‘82/83 in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association’s 10th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Bull-strong center Richard Yu ruthlessly gobbled up the defense of Class ‘82/83 to topscore Class ‘88 with 15 points on top of 17 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks in another spectacular hardcourt showmanship.

Harry Villamor chipped in 15 points and four rebounds followed by Gregorio Aguilar with 14 points and four rebounds as Class ‘88 stayed as one of the only five undefeated teams this season.

Class ‘88 was in complete command of the match and was never threatened after closing the first half with a 30-22 advantage. The Dewfoam-backed squad blew Class ‘82/83 into pieces using a blistering 23-11 run in the third period for an insurmountable 20-point edge, 53-33, entering the final 10 minutes of the contest.

Stephen Tan paced Class ‘82/83 with 20 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals. The vastly improved Christopher Cokaliong added 11 markers and eight rebounds, while Edwin Lim donated 10 points, four rebounds, and three assists but they all went home on a pensive note as they slipped to 2-2.

In the other game, Castrol ‘96 won by default over a no-show JV Bakeshop 2002. Class ‘96, thus, improved its win-loss record to 4-1 without breaking a sweat, while Class 2002 absorbed its seventh loss with only win to show. —EBV
