Inter-City basketball semifinals on today at separate venues

-

Exciting hardcourt action in the 1st Inter-City Challenge Cup basketball tournament resumes today with two semifinal matches to be played simultaneously in  two different venues at 7pm.

At the Don Celestino Martinez Sr. Memorial Coliseum in Bogo City, the second-ranked Bogo Bogoys will host the third-seed Talisay Aquastars.

Over at the Lapu-Lapu City hardcourt, elimination round topnotcher Lapu-Lapu Chiefs will defend their fort against the invading fourth-seed Danao City Pistols.

A P1 million worth of projects is at stake for the champion in the first ever hoop showdown of chartered cities around Cebu province.

The Chiefs of coach Larry Villanil are favored to beat the Pistols of Danao because of their cohesiveness. They are also expected to prey on the Pistols’ weaker bench.

Villanil will rely heavily on Jarjar Degamo, Adonis Morata and Ritchel Falcon, among others, while the Pistols will count the most from Tito Batulan and Reynan Capoy to name a few.

The Bogoys of coach Hermes Sumalinog, on the other hand, cannot take the Talisay lightly because the Aquastars have key starters that are capable of pulling off an upset in the likes of Rico Tabar and the Cabañero cousins Alejandro and Alfie.

The Bogoys though have their own superstars led by the tandem of Jun Ace Ursal and Noel Balili. (GGM)
