USJ-R, SWU now 3-0 in CESAFI beach volley

The University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) and Southwestern University (SWU) stayed unbeaten after three games in the 2nd Cebu Schools Athletics Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) Beach Volley tournament yesterday at the Inayagan Beach Resort in Naga City.

In the men’s division, Ariel Carumba and Loujie Tipgos of USJ-R mauled Edison Karl Lim and George Tampon of Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU), 25-9, while its women’s counterparts bannered by Genie Sabas and Michelle Simbajon trounced Lynette Auza and Katherine Fe Cemanse of CDU, 25-10.

The SWU belles, on the other hand, also coasted to their third straight win, with Jessa Satina and Lorie Mae Layno crushing Kim Ybañez and Jeremie Montalvo of the University of San Carlos (USC), 24-17.

USC’s men squad, however, came out victorious, with Riderick Arenasa and Carlo Tecson slamming Jonathan Iñez and John Francis Llaguno of the University of Cebu (UC), 25-8.

In the final game of the morning session, Erika Camille Verano and Herlene Ybarita of the University of Southern-Philippines Foundation (USPF) whipped Jade Pilapil and Madel Salinas of UC, 25-18. — Marigold P. Lebumfacil
