GCM Royalle ‘98-B, Young Builders ‘91 stay on a roll in CECABA caging
GCM Royalle Merchandise ‘98-B and Young Builders ‘91 continue to stomp on their opponents to keep their immaculate records in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association’s
Elvis Evangelista scored 19 points and hauled 15 rebounds as Class ‘98-B rolled to its fourth straight victory at the expense of JV Bakeshop 2002, 62-49, while Class ‘91 was pushed to the limit before getting rid of Chester Enterprises ‘82/83, 75-71, for its third win in a row.
Leovigildo Yu backed up Evangelista with a season-high 14 points on an awesome 7-of-10 shooting from the field. Jew Lawrence Co added 10 points and seven rebounds for Class ‘95-B, which detonated a devastating 21-4 bomb in the third period to blow the game apart, 44-28.
Jobert Cuyos fired a career-high 21 points on a spectacular 10-of-12 sniping from the field. He also had two steals, but his singular offensive outburst was to no avail as Class 2002 suffered its fourth defeat against only win.
In a carbon copy of the main game, Class ‘91 also banked on a spirited third quarter uprising to fend off the previously undefeated Class ‘82/83.
Class ‘91 trailed by a dozen points at halftime, 26-38, but Chester Benedict Go, Emerson Go and Tommy Yu masterminded a searing 26-11 counterattack in the third canto to wrest the driver’s seat, 52-49, going into the final 10 minutes of play.
Class ‘91 then wielded its endgame dexterity to neutralize Class ‘82/83’s offense until the final buzzer.
E. Go topped Class ‘91 with 21 points, seven assists and two steals, while C. Go added 18 markers, six rebounds, two assists and two steals. Juan Borromeo, Jr. and Roger Crisologo donated 10 points apiece.
Stephen Tan charted 23 points on top of nine rebounds, two assists and two steals for Class ‘82/83. Cesar Ting chipped in 14 points, three rebounds and three assists, but couldn’t make any difference as they snapped out of their two-game winning streak.
