Cebuano Jon-Jon Adlawan wound up eighth out of the 21 entries in the 2008 Motocross Masters of Asia- uerto Princesa International Motocross Grand Prix at the Sta. Monica International Racetrack in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
Aside from that, the 16 year-old Adlawan also dominated the experts division during he national race, a preliminary event in the FIM Asia’s first leg.
Adlawan of PowerSports Racing added feather on his cap by placing third in the pro class behind RP’s motocross king Glenn Aguilar and Kenneth San Andres.
Adlawan’s teammate in PSR, Ryan Alquisola, also pulled one big surprise by topping the beginner’s class. Alquisola bested fellow Cebuano Andrew Canlas.
Alquisola also place second to a Manileño rider in the novice division.
PSR’s bid in Palawan, however, suffered some setback when one of its top bets, Jubenile Abellar, suffered an injury.
According to PSR main man Jonas Adlawan, the young Abellar sustained a broken bone in his lower right leg.
“Natukod niya pagpractice. Kusog kayo iyang dagan,so grabe and impact.Sayang lagi kayo,” Adlawan told The Freeman.
Abellar needs to rest for at least four months to recuperate from the injury.
The Cebuanos’ bid in Palawan was supported by Cebu Pacific, Oz Racing, The Palawan Bank, RDAK Motorsports, and Deco Sales Incorporated.—Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
