More bmx supercross categories in Larrazabal bikefest

-

The Cebuano bets will have more chance of winning big in the 2008 Terry Larrazabal Bike Festival in Subic on April 3 to 6 with the addition of some categories in the bmx supercross.

A few years back, the Cebu BMX Riders Organization(CBRO) organized a year-long supercrosss competition.

Although the said group has been inactive for sometime, bmx enthusiasts continued to hone their skills, both in the freestyle and supercross.

The addition of several classes in bmx supercross is a welcome development for the Cebuano racers.

“In the spirit of the inclusion of BMX in this year’s Olympics in China, we will add age groupers for kids for the BMX competition,” stated event organizer Gregorio “Goyo” Larrazabal in an e-mail to The Freeman.

BMX supercross will now have the open/pro, beginners and kids division. Aside from the supercross, there will also be a flatland and dirt jumping contest.

The other Cebuano entries will go up against the rest of the country’s best and upcoming riders in mountainbike, racer and triathlon.

The mountainbike event features cross-country, single-speed, downhill, four-cross, mountain cross challenge, dirt jumping and trials competition, while the racers will have the three-day, four-stage road race dubbed as Tour de Larrazabal (formerly named Tour de Leyte).

Those who failed to beat the deadly for early registration can still enlist themselves at Aison Bike Shop in Panag-dait, Mabolo or at Vellum Cycles Showroom located at Unit 5-B, Piazza Elesia in Talamban.—Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
