Cebu’s Cary “The Prince” Bullos is dead set for another challenge as he battles another seasoned mixed martial artist Tony Donaire in the main event of the Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) -Cebu II dubbed as the “Visayan Pride” tomorrow night at Waterfront-Cebu City Hotel and Casino in Brgy. Lahug.
Bullos dismantled Bacolod’s Elijah Siam in only 26 seconds in the first URCC action here in the Queen City of the South. That perhaps could send shivers down Donaire’s spines.
Stats show Bullos is the odds-on favorite over Donaire, having compiled an undefeated record in 10 fights with one draw.
Although his credential is unknown, Donaire can’t be taken for granted as he already figured in several underground fights.
In another feature of the slambang event spearheaded by Renault Lao in cooperation with Markman Yap and Jason Salao, Michael Arquillano, a feared striker and a cunning grappler, will go up against John Armoganda.
Aquillano, a lightweight (137 pounds), is expected to face an uphill climb against the bigger and heavier Armoganda, who is a junior welterweight (145 points).
In the equally-exciting undercard, the bemedalled national team member Marcus Valda will clash with URCC veteran Benjie Gloria under the light heavyweight division.
The rest of the explosive card pits Arnel Abancina vs. Rogelito Plomeda, Charlie Angel vs. Jessie Rafols, Demetrio de la Torre vs. Gian Vicuna, Neil Dungog vs. Allan Factuba, Maxilito Yong vs. Eugene Yongke, Mike Tabamo vs. Edmund Fernandez, Andrew Benibe vs. Rodel Chua, and Geronimo Etac vs. Jet Lumaog.
Aside from making the sport of mixed martial arts more popular and acceptable to the Cebuanos, URCC also hopes to discover new talents from the Visayas and Mindanao area.
Tickets for the URCC- “Visayan Pride” tiff are available at the Costumer Service of Ayala Center-Cebu, Loft, ALA Boxing Gym, Da Vinci’s Pizza, and Chris Sports. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
