2nd CESAFI beach volley starts today

Exciting showdown looms ahead as the 2nd Cebu Schools Athletics Foundation  Inc. (CESAFI) Men’s and Women’s Beach Volley unfolds today at the Inayagan Beach Resort in Naga City.

Gametime starts at 8 am.Among those who will vie for top honors are the University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R), University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF), Southwestern University (SWU), University of Cebu (UC), University of the Visayas (UV), and University of San Carlos (USC).

Jusabelle Brillo, who powered UV to the Nestea Beach Volley Season 10 championship last year in Boracay Island with Janez Armie Igot, will compete with a different partner this time.

The other early title favorites are the USJ-R tandem of Genie Sabas and Michelle Simbajon.

In the men’s side, Roderick Arenasa and Edward Carlo Tecson of USC are tipped to win the title although they are expected to meet tough challenge from USJ-R and USPF.

The tournament follows a single round robin format. The team with the best record automatically wins the championship.

The games will resume on March 1 and then winds up on March 8. A concert will be held the following day at the Cebu Coliseum to formally close what had been another successful CESAFI season. — Marigold P. Lebumfacil
