Henkel ‘95 nails fourth straight win in CECABA

Henkel Philippines ‘95 overcame a fiery uprising by Kwong Bee Sausage 2005 in the final half to scrape through  a 67-64 win and stay unbeaten in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association’s 10th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the CEC Gym.

Erwin Ong had 16 points and five rebounds, while Edison Ho added 15 points and four rebounds as Class ‘95 zoomed to its fourth straight win in as many starts. Donald Anthony Ting chipped in 13 markers on top of four rebounds and three steals. The trio shot a decent 17-of-31 from the field with Ho going 2-of-2 from the 3-point land.

After taking a 34-26 lead at halftime, Class ‘95 folded up in the offensive end but regained its poise and composure towards the end of the match to preserve the win.

Kent Benedict Uy charted a career-high 33 points on top of four rebounds, three assists and two steals. In an awesome display of shooting brilliance, Uy shot 7-of-11 from beyond the arc, 4-of-8 from the 2-point field and 4-of-6 from the foul line, but his big night was spoiled as Class 2005 crashed to its third straight defeat.

In the other game, Cokaliong Shipping ‘98-A annihilated JV Bakeshop ‘99, 72-46, to even its win-loss record to 2-2.

Paul Timothy So scored 20 and posted season-highs 20 rebounds and six  assists. Erick Andrew So banged in 17 points, eight caroms, four assists and three steals for Class ‘98-A, which kept pounding on Class ‘99 after setting off to a hot 21-8 start.

Rex Millan added 18 points and five steals for Class ‘98-A. They closed the first two quarters with a 37-19 advantage and then punished Class ‘99 in the final half, 35-27 to complete the 26-point romp.

Alain Lao nailed 18 points and seven rebounds, while John Jason Baladya netted a season-high 12 points for Class ‘99, which slumped to 0-3.
