Jon-jon Adlawan, other riders to join Asian Moto Grand Prix

-

Sixteen-year-old Jon-Jon Adlawan leads a powerful cast of Cebuano riders in the  2008 Motocross Masters of Asia - Puerto Princesa International Motocross Grand Prix slated today at the Sta. Monica International Racetrack in Puerto Princesa City.

Along with Adlawan, from Cebu and PowerSports Racing, are Jubenile Abellar, Ryan and Renan Alquisola, Andrew Canlas, Ryan and Renan Alquisola, Alexus Celis, Joy Jocson and Nonoy Reluya.

Alduane Canlas, the older brother of Andrew, is set to join the team, but is doubtful to compete because he is still recuperating from injury.

Adlawan, a senior at Sacred Heart School-Jesuit, is one of the country’s bets in the Asian 125 seniors action along with the 2008 NAMSSA first leg winner Kenneth San Andres and Glenn Aguilar.

The absence of last year’s Asian 125 seniors champion Thai rider Arnon Theplib hopes to give the Pinoy an added boost in their bid for glory.

Other Cebuano riders will campaign in their respective classes. Jubenile Abellar will compete in the Asian action and the Alquisolas in the Asian junior’s class.

In addition, Adlawan, Abellar and the Alquisolas will also be competing in the National action, a preliminary contest in the international race along with the other Cebuano riders.

Andrew Canlas and Celis will be competing in the novice class while Jocson and San Fernando City’s first gentleman Reluya will be racing in the executive class.

Cebu Pacific, Oz Racing, The Palawan Bank, RDAK Motorsports and Deco Sales Incorporated back the Cebuanos’ bid in Palawan. —Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
