Class 2002 clobbers 2006 in CECABA caging

JV Bakeshop 2002 rebounded from its opening day loss and vented its wrath on First ACY 2006, 66-52, in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association’s 10th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

David Chan had a solid double-double show of 25 points on top of a career-high 19 rebounds for Class 2002, which rode on a smooth offensive flow in the final period to get rid of Class 2006.

Class 2002 led by only four points at the end of the third period, 48-44, but Chan scored six points and Uy hit two crucial 3-pointers in a game-closing 18-8 run that buoyed them to a 14-point victory.

The only other double-digit scorer for Class 2002, whick took a 36-31 advantage at halftime, was Jobert Cuyos with 14 points.

Junwynn Dy topped Class 2006 with 16 points, three rebounds and two assists followed by Nolsie John Cisneros with 15 points, six rebounds, five steals and four assists.

In the other game, Jepoy Sales Inc./Cherry Rose Bakeshop 2001 went strong in the middle quarters to streak past JV Bakeshop ’99,45-38.

Marlon Lao showed the way for Class 2001 with 10 points and 12 caroms.

Class 2001 trailed by two after the first quarter, 10-12, but charged back in the next two periods, 28-17, to grab the lead for good, 38-29, going into the final 10 minutes of the contest.

Alain Lao paced Class ’99 with 12 points and eight rebounds.
