Kings, RCBC demolish foes in CUBA cage tourney

-

The Kings and Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) launched their respective title bids with lopsided victories over separate foes at the start of the 2008 Cebu United Bankers Association (CUBA) First Conference basketball tournament last Sunday at the Visayan Glass Gym in Brgy. Guadalupe, this city.

The Kings downed Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), while RCBC was also dominant in slamming the Spurs, 72-51.

Letrero nailed 20 points, while William Aparri and Alex Macaling connived for 22 points for the Kings, who staggered BPI with their furious 32-8 attack in the first quarter.

The explosive Kings      maintained double-digit leads from that point on. Behind the efforts of Julius Gastador, BPI rallied in the third period to pull within 12 points, but the Kings fired back with finesse to regain an imposing 57-37 bulge heading into the final 10-minute mark of the contest.
