Kim, Yeo rule January monthly medal at Alta Vista

Two men both named Alex ruled the January Monthly Medal at the Alta Vista Golf and Country last Saturday.

Korean Alex Kim scored three-over-par 75 to score the lowest gross for the premiere class A category.

The lowest net for class A was scored by Chinese-Filipino businessman Alex Yeo, who scored 69 strokes.  Runner-up honors went to Ben Yu with a net score of 73 strokes.

In class B, club director Vicente Go scored seven-over-par 79 to win the lowest gross honors.

Juho Lee scored a net 66 to win the lowest net plum while runner-up honors went to Boy Gonzalez with his 67 after edging Kevin park and Cristino Lim in the countback.

Sung Ho Kim joined the Korean assault as he scored 84 strokes to bag the lowest gross for class C.

The lowest net award for class C went to Bonifacio Sia with a tournament-best 64 strokes while runner-up honors went to Joel Ong with 69.

In the seniors’ class, Rolando Alberto scored 82 strokes to win the lowest gross plum while Ely Celestino made 64 for the lowest net.

An all-Korean show came in the ladies class as Jung Kyung Sook won the lowest gross award with 86 and lowest net honors went to Son Hye Seon with 64.

Kim Hye Kyung won the guest division plum with a 76 while runner-up honors went to Yee Hwa Choi with 86.

Nene Casumpang won a special prize for most accurate drive on the par-4 hole No. 11.

The tournament wasn’t however all joy as one of the club’s members, Engr. Vitaliano Tacudin, was rushed to the hospital by paramedics after he collapsed.

Tacudin, the former provincial engineer, died at the emergency room of Cebu Doctors’ Hospital. —NLQ
