Despite lacking entries in three categories, The University of Cebu-Blue Marlins Swim Club managed to grab the third overall position in the Iloilo Dinagyang Age-Group Swimfest at the Iloilo Sports Complex, the other day.
The squad, led by multi-titled Coach Rolando Alvarez, also had four of its swimmers topping their respective categories.
The Aqua Sports Swim Club of Iloilo won the event with 4,717 points, followed by Iloilo Sea Warriors with 4,664. UC-CBM had a total of 3,765 points.
The outstanding individual performers for Cebu were UC’s Paula Abigail Vega bagged the “Most Outstanding Junior Swimmer” (13-17 age bracket) and the “Best Female Swimmer” in the same age group.
Noel Caneda, teammate of Vega in the UC Varsity team, won the “Best Swimmer” award in the boys 15-17 class.
Cebu Eastern Colleges’ Anthony Linn and Lyh Ann Navarro were the best the boys 9-10 category and 7-8 category, respectively.
