Peterson Lim of Hilton Motors won two of the three titles at stake during the Autocross Race held at the back of the Cebu International Convention Center in Mandaue City over the weekend.
Lim’s twin victories helped Hilton Motors overshadow archrival DGL Motors in the said competition. David Lim gave DGL Motors its only victory in the open class.
Lim, driving a Honda EK-9 that was propped up by Jess Garcia of Kartzone and Jun “Air” Mabini of Hilton, dominated the Front Wheel Drive (FWD) category with a clocking of 52.3 seconds for his first win. His second victory was in the modified class, where he drove Honda CRX to an overall time of 50.9 seconds.
The driver, however, felt he won a hollow victory because of his slow time in the modified class. He claimed that he had a clocking of 50.1 seconds but officials gave him 50.9. He further claimed that three other racers, Jay Mametes, Manuel Mangaron and Mabini, were standing near the computer system and thought they saw Lim’s time as it was flashed on the screen.
“This sort of unjustified action doesn’t go without a consequence. Many concerned racers had voiced out negative comments about the event and some have already lost interest in joining,” Lim said.
The FREEMAN tried to call the organizers for their comment but the calls were not returned.
