Yuvallos-Alaan seizes Coral golfest lead

Nelson Yuvallos and Lorenzo Alaan were awesome yesterday as they seized the lead in the 27th Coral Invitational at the Cebu Country Club.

Yuvallos, who is into the export business, carded nine-under-par 45 in the Modified Stableford Scoring System while Alaan, who shuttles between Cebu and Los Angeles, California, scored six-under-par 42 points for a total of 87.

They overtook the team of Andrew Si and Richard Lim, which combined for 85 points during the first day of action.

Tied for second is the duo of Wendell Yap and the US-based Nelson Muñeses, who also made 85 points.

Edward Go of Sulpicio Lines and Court of Appeals Justice Francisco Acosta combined for 84 points, which was the third best among those who played yesterday.

Patrick Cymn Go and Tommy Tabanas made 83 and are on solo fifth spot.

Four teams are tied with 82 points apiece.  These are Ven Lacustales and cardiologist Arnold Tan, Gabriel Yap, Jr. and Anthony Bejar, Edwin Kaw and Christopher Navalta, and bothers Francis and Manuel Zosa, Jr.

Scoring 81 points are the teams are Dave Griffin and Mark Lampinen and the all-doctor duo of Vicente Perez and Harris Roska.

Four more teams scored 80 points and these were Jerry Tan Uy and Jun Dayot, Ernesto Siguan and Adonis Baluyut, Christopher Kokseng and Russel Reyes, and Jufil Sato and Hospicio Razon.

The Coral Invitational is the annual signature member-guest event of Cebu Country Club.

Teams would play two rounds within the four-day period and the awards ceremony is set tomorrow evening at the CCC ballroom.

Aside from the top teams overall, there will also be prizes for the best teams in the seniors’ category and also the best performers for their first and second rounds.
