Si and Lim set pace in Coral golfest

The Tandem of Andrew Si and Richard Lim set the pace at the start of the 27th Coral Invitational Tournament at the Cebu Country Club.

The Coral Invitational is the club’s annual member-guest event.

Si and Lim combined for 85 points to post a two-point lead in this tournament using the Modified Stableford Scoring System.

Running second is the duo of Patrick Cymn Go and Tommy Tabanas with 83 points while a stroke back is the tandem of brothers Francis Zosa and Manuel Zosa, Jr. with 82.

The Zosa brothers, however, lead the seniors division, which is for teams with a total age of 120 years old or more.

Three teams are tied with 81 points apiece.  These are Dave Griffin and Mark Lampinen, Ven Lacustales and Arnold Tan, and the all-doctor duo of Vicente Perez and Harris Roska.

Christopher Kokseng and Russel Reyes and the tandem of Marc Gonzalez and retired general Rodante Joya made 80 points apiece.

In the seniors’ class, Perez and Roska trail the Zosa brothers by a stroke while four strokes back at third spot is the tandem of Ang Chiong and Nido Lao.

Cesar Chan and Danny Co together with buddies Benito Gaisano and Baldomero Estenzo fired 76 points apiece.

Tied with 75 points each are the teams of Jose Sala and Beau Backman and Masatsugo Ochiai and Clifford Celdran.

The tournament will run for four days, but teams will only be playing two rounds within that period.

The second half of the field of over 200 teams will play their first round today.

A Calcutta is set tonight at the ballroom of Cebu Country Club.  During the Calcutta, the top teams will be bidded out to add more spice to the last two days of action.
