Visiting team Sta. Rita Football Club (SRFC) led the early winners at the start of the two-day 54th Don Bosco Founder’s Day Under-12 and Under-17 football tournament yesterday at the Don Bosco Seminary fields.
The lone out-of-town entry from San Carlos City, Negros Occidental trounced Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC)-B, 1-0, in the Under-17 class.
The DBTC-A booters, on the other hand, did not allow themselves to be left behind as they whipped Abellana National School (ANS), 3-1.
ANS though bounced back from that frustrating setback and vented its ire on the hapless Sacred Heart School-Jesuit (SHS-J), 3-0.
SHS-J did the same thing when it bested San Roque United Football Club (SRUFC), 1-0.
In the other U-17 action, Cebu International School (CIS) thumped Football Club Inter-Cebu (FCIC), 4-1.
In the Under-12 division, the same scenario happened when SRFC overpowered host Don Bosco Technological Center (DBTC)-B, 1-0.
The Sta. Rita mainstays weren’t as lucky this time as their comrades in the Under-17 class were mercilessly demolished by DBTC-A, 0-6.
Sacred Heart School-Jesuit, on the other hand, showed superior might in annihilating Football Club Inter-Cebu (FCIC), 6-0.
As of this writing, the remaining games in the Under-17 and Under-12 divisions were still being played. The semifinals is set at 1 pm today to be followed immediately by the championship matches. — Marigold P. Lebumfacil
