Paeng to compete in BTA Sinulog bowling

It’s green and go for the 9th Bowlingplex Tenpin Association (BTA) Sinulog Classic Open 2008 on January 16-19 at Gaisano Bowlingplex in Banilad with no less than the world’s greatest bowler Rafael “Paeng” Nepomuceno showcasing his wares.

Nepomuceno, a four-time world champion who is now a United Nation ambassador of goodwill, will contend against five RP Team members and a bunch of other bowlers from all over the country.

Among the national players who have already confirmed their entry in the four-day bowlfest are Joonne Gatchalian, Raoul Miranda, Julius Sy, Markwin Tee and head coach Gene Tonolete.

So far, close to 70 bowlers from host Cebu,  Davao, Iloilo, Bacolod, and Manila have already registered.

Each bowler will play a total of 16 games in the qualifying phase, with eight games to be played daily.

The top 36 entries after the elimination round will advance into the finals where they will play a total of eight games.

Aside from trophies, the champion will receive P50,000, while the second and third placers will take home P30,000 and P20,000, respectively.  The fourth will get P10,000, while the fifth pockets P5,000.

The sixth to the 16th finishers will get P2,000 apiece, while the 17th to the 25th will each receive a consolation prize of  P1,000.

On top of the cash prizes, all the participants are also going after the P50,000 bonus for a perfect game.

In the event that more than one player score a perfect game, the bounty will be shared equally among them.

On the other hand, the top three female bowlers after the elimination round will get P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000.
