Lagman crashes out of -14 championship

Cebuano junior netter Jacob Lagman found out that the bigger boys are much tougher than he thought when he lost to Deo Talatayod in the 14-under championship of 19th Andrada Age-Group Tennis Championships at the Rizal Memorial tennis courts, yesterday.

The 12-year-old Lagman bowed to the older Talatayod 6-2, 6-3 in a match that lasted more than one and a half hours. Before their 14-under championship tussle, the two junior tennis players had played four times in the past, with each player winning two matches.

Despite the loss, Lagman vowed for revenge the next time as the two players will likely to cross paths again in future 14-under age group tournaments because Talatayod is playing in the division for one more year. Lagman, on the other hand, had just moved to the higher division because he is turning 13 in April.

Lagman hopes to follow the footsteps of his friend Niño Siso, another Cebuano junior campaigner, who dominated the said category. Siso have moved to the 16-under division because he will be 15 this year.
