Jobannie Abellar wins MS Motosuit ‘Rider of the Year’ plum

-

Jobannie Abellar may not have earned a title in the final leg of the 2007 MS Motosuit Motocross Series but still got the last laugh as he bagged the prestigious “Rider of the Year” award.

It was actually a triple celebration for Abellar as he also ruled the premiere experts division and the intermediate class.

Abellar topped the experts division with 279 points after 11 legs. Pepo Rubi finished second with 253 points followed by 2006 MS Motosuit ROY awardee Irwin Uypitchin with 223 points.

In the intermediate category, Abellar retained his titles with 298 points. MS Motosuit image model John Flores, Andot Rubi and Donkey Sanchez also kept their respective crowns.

Flores despite some obstacles that came along his way, defended his mini division title with 370 points, Rubi stayed as king in executives A with 304 points and Sanchez dominated the local enduro class anew with 338 points.

Aside from the experts class, new rulers also emerged in four other divisions.

Seigfred Ornopia, owner of Keiz Bz and brother of event organizer and MS Motosuit main man Lou Ornopia, is back in the groove as he reigned supreme in the executives B with 326 points.

Paulo Inoc, on the other hand, lorded it over in the novice open production with 348 points.

Ayen Ledesma, like Abellar, also basked in the glory of double victory. He took the open enduro overall title with 330 points and the beginner’s open production with 286 points.

The overall winners of the annual motocross series will be formally awarded before the 2008 edition unfolds. —Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
