Surprise results in final leg of MS Motosuit motocross

As expected, the 2007 MS Motosuit Motocross Series ended with some unexpected twists and turns as Jubenile Abellar fended off early favorites to snatch the premiere experts title in the Mayor Neneth Reluya Cup the other day in San Fernando, Cebu.

Abellar had never smoked the victory pipe in the past 10 legs of the year-round tournament organized by longtime motocross patron Lou Ornopia. It turned out that he saved his best for last, going unstoppable in the experts race of MS Motosuit’s year-ending tilt.

It was actually the older Abellar, Jubannie, who was expected to steal the show as he is the pace-setter in the Rider of the Year award.

Lady luck, however, wasn’t on Jubannie’s side as his dirtbike bugged down in the middle of the heated action.

Jon-Jon Adlawan, the 10th leg winner, was also in contention of claiming back-to-back titles until a mechanical trouble shattered his bid. Also, veteran Pepo Rubi suffered a mishap, paving the way for Jubenile Abellar’s victory.

The younger Abellar then proved he was more than lucky that day as he came up with a double victory by topping the intermediate open. Wensor Famorca placed second followed by Kenneth Belleza.

Lesser-known Michael Belleza surprised the rest by winning the third place honors in the premiere class.

MS Motosuit image model John Flores, on the other hand, was a phantom of delight for the large throng of spectators with his very promising moves and awe-inspiring aerial stunts on the racetrack.

Flores posted back-to-back wins in the mini class after defeating Keith Galaura. Jose Tagalogen finished third.

Nonoy Reluya, wife of event sponsor and San Fernando Mayor Neneth Reluya, also stole part of the limelight by bagging the executives B crown. He edged out Jun Enriquez and Saturnino Lao to the delight of local residents.

In the executives A, Gener Sicad grabbed the top spot over Rey Ytac and  Enriquez, while Wayne Galeza dominated the executives C followed by Lao and Albert Concha.

Donkey Sanchez and Ayen Ledesma also provided another twist in the last action. They were tipped to rule their respective classes but faltered.

Michael Disbaro outsmarted Sanchez in the 125 local enduro as Amay Labor ended third. Ledesma, for his part, lost to Christopher Voss in the open enduro that saw Sanchez winding up third.

Ledesma tried to wrestle the beginner’s production title, but landed third instead behind Thadeus Mercado and Voss.

Paulo Inoc lorded it over in the novice production followed by Jun Suresca and Famorca, while Ariel Saavedra topped the pantra division.

The 2007 edition of the annual MS Motosuit Motocross Series again ended up on a highly successful note because of the support of MS Digital Prints, MS Carsuits, Cebu Progress Marketing, Disston Premium Paints, 888 Headercore Mufler Tech, Cebu Reliance, Keiz BZ Motor Sales, Bimoli Cooking Oil, American Feeds, Norkis Trading Corporation, RMO Motorparts, Blue Cows Milk, and Daisy Condensada.
