2007 Milo Junior Tennis Cup: Only 2 of 4 Lagmans stay alive

Only two remained standing among the Lagman siblings in the 2007 Milo Junior Tennis Cup yesterday at the Philam Tennis Club in Quezon City.

Jacob Lagman barged into the semifinal round after defeating Bryan Carl Viray,6-2, 6-1 in the final eight of the 12-under class. Jacob will face next Kyle Parpan today.

Jacob’s older brother Julius, on the other hand, hurdled his first assignment against Arthur Tafalla, 5-7, 6-4 (10-4), in the boys 21-under.

It was not all Jubilation for the Lagmans though as Julian and Jessica Clarise fell prey to their respective foes.

After winning her first game in the girls 14-under category, Jessica Clarise got clobbered by Samantha Coyuito, 0-6, 1-6.

Julian, who is also seeing action in the 21-under class, crashed out of the tournament after a 0-6, 6-7 opening round setback to Novo Navarro,0-6,6-7.

Julian and Jessica hope not to go home empty-handed as they joined forces in the mixed doubles event. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
