Lopez, Berberio, Carter top Seminary Fund Run

Mendel Lopez, Charlie Berberio and Madelyn Carter topped the Seminary Fund Run at the Cebu Business Park last Sunday.

Mendel Lopez, a standout of the University of Southern Philippines, won the all-students’ 6K race in 20 minutes and 34.073 seconds in the official time provided by Seiko, the official timer of the race.

Riez Enriquez came in second with 21:08:116 clocking while Gabriel Zabate settled third with 21:32.919.

Charlie Berberio and Madelyn Carter were the fastest among the executives who competed in the 10K race.

Berberio ruled the men’s division with 37:45.946 with Ricky Abalayan settling for second with 38:28.101 while Rommel Abayan snatched third place with 39:02.377.

Carter posted a time of 43:15.365 to win the women’s title while the second and third places went to Claire Maranga (53:29.764) and Sarah Dopio (54:38.306).

Fr. Renante Ravanes was the fastest among the priests who competed with a clocking of 34:27:416. Fr. Joey Danao was second (41:22) and Fr. Joseph Larida finished third (43:58.001).

Among the seminarians, Archie Toroy finished first with 22:21.913 followed by Brian Flandez (32:20.209) and Armando Orehuela (33:08.519).

On the other hand, Gladys Sumile and Hilde Ngujo dominated the MPZ women’s and men’s class respectively. Sumile outpaced other contenders by finishing in 32:27.257. Rosana Sajolga came in second (32:57.526) while Edna Base was third (33:16.609).

The CI Runner’s Club was the best team in the 3K 12-under class when its runners finished 1-2-3 led by Dexter Secong (15:43.69), Razel Fritz Abellana (16:45.47) and Vharon Escarinas (34:54.02).

The Cebu Archdiocesan Major Seminary Foundation, Inc., organized the Seminary Fund Run while the Sports and Fitness Association (SAFE) officiated the race. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
