It’s a one-one battle between the University of Cebu and the University of San Jose-Recoletos when the table tennis competition of CESAFI side events unfolds today at the Hua Ching Foundation at Clotilde Building in Cabancalan, Mandaue City.
UC and USJ-R will have to fight it out for gold, as there are no other entries in the secondary division.
With only two teams in the division, Coach Raffy San Juan, one of the organizers of the event, said that they agreed to alter the format of the tournament into an all singles matches. San Juan said that this would ensure exciting matches in the said division.
Meanwhile, the competition in the college level will start tomorrow with five squads vying for honors, led by reigning champion UC, USJ-R, University of the Visayas, Cebu Doctor’s University and the University of San Carlos. Events in the college level include singles, team, doubles and mixed events. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
