Kintanar, Capadocia shine in Malaysia tennis tourney

-

Cebuana Krissianne Kintanar did more than what was expected of her after winning the gold in the girls 10-under class, even as her teammate Marian Capadocia topped the girls 12-under of the Selangor International Junior Tennis Championships yesterday at the Pikinis Sports Complex in Selangor, Malaysia.

Kintanar dumped her doubles partner Delizaverne Singh of Malaysia,  7-6(7-2), 6-2, in their spine-chilling final match, while Capadocia ruled after easily thrashing Alyssa Boey, 6-0,6-3.

Meanwhile, three other Cebuanos will be vying for the title in separate divisions today.Sally Mae Siso’s final showdown in the girls 14-under against her doubles partner Selvarajoo was moved again today instead of yesterday.

With that, her mother and coach Sally is having a delimma as to whom to attend to as Sally Mae’s brother Niño also booked a finals seat in the boys 14-under in a separate venue.

Niño Siso meets Kevin Loke in the championship match after he clobbered Kenneth Tan Wei Shen, 6-1,6-0, in the semifinal.

Jacob Lagman and Vince Marc Tabotabo, on the other hand, got a double championship assignment after winning their singles and doubles matches.

Lagman dumped second seed Izzul Aizuddin,6-0,6-4 to face Malaysia’s top player Duz Singh in the boys 12-under final. He and Dus Bionjit Singh are  set to play in the doubles finals.

Tabotabo is also expected to reign in the boys 10-under class after posting a clinical 6-0,6-2 victory over Tan Zu Sinyang in the semis.

Tabotabo and partner Bio pulled off a hard-earned, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win over Chin Yen To and Tuzhu Zany to arrange a title showdown with against Afiq Arfan and Adeep Zahar in the doubles category.—Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
