USC shows might in City Olympics swimming

The University of San Carlos Swimming Team bagged a total of 16 golds, 10 silvers and five bronzes last weekend in the swimming competition of 17th Cebu City Olympics at the Cebu City Sports Center.

The impressive performance of the team was spiced by record-breaking times of John Solon and the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay team.

Solon timed 59.88 in grabbing the gold medal in the 100-m freestyle. The women’s team of Alex Valderama, Ara Dennise Echavez, Rozelle Diaz and Patrica Solon reigned supreme in the relay event with 5:14.30 clocking.

Loren Dale Echavez also had a superb showing by winning five gold medals in various individual events.

Other medalists were Jesse Arriola Jr., Edgar Allan Jarina, Jebb Cane, Keith Ocampo, Bianca Diaz, Cianyl Gonzales and Christine Sesante.
