The 3rd Alta Vista Junior Golf Challenge will tee off today at the par-72 layout located in the hills of Pardo on the southern side of Cebu City.
The tournament has drawn close to 90 participants from 11 golf clubs all over the country.
Tessa Ozoa, general manager of Alta Vista Golf and Country Club, told The Freeman that all three major island groups are represented.
The clubs from Luzon that are represented in the event are Alabang, Philippine Navy, Orchard, and Makati Golf.
The Mindanao clubs represented here are Apo Golf, Del Monte and Zamboanga.
The Visayan clubs are Negros, Cebu Country Club, Mactan Island Golf Club and host Alta Vista.
The competitors will be classified under several age groups. At stake for a hole-in-one on any of the five par-3 holes in a roundtrip ticket to Hong Kong courtesy of Philippine Airlines and a Sun Mountain Push Cart for the bag.
Sponsors of the event are PAL, Coca-cola, Julie’s Bakeshop, Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines, Selecta, Kia Motors, Smart, International Pharmaceuticals Inc., and Limtong Press.
Entry fee for the tournament is P1,800.
The awards ceremony will be held tomorrow. — NLQ
