Cebuanos invited to national tablenetfest
Cebuano table tennis players have been invited to compete in the 7th Lopue’s Table Tennis Association (LOPTTA) National Invitational Table Tennis Championship on November 9-11 at the LOPTTA Table Tennis Center in Lopue’s San Sebastian Annex building in
Dr. Leonito Lopue, president of LOPTTA, hopes that with Cebuano players around, the tournament will accomplish its goal to “gather the best team players from different clubs, schools, regions, including former national team mainstays” and give table tennis fans something to cheer for.
Lopue, however, pointed out that current RP team members and their coaches are disqualified from joining the event. For purposes of classification, players who played for the RP team from 1990 and earlier are considered as non-ranking players, thus they are eligible to play.
Participating squads must have three players in their lineups, one of which is a female player that must play in the third singles match. The other two players can either be both non-ranking or one non-ranking player and a former ranking player or coach.
The tournament’s champion will get P25,000 while the runner-up pockets P15,000. The third and fourth placers will receive P10,000 and P5,000, respectively.
Aside from these prizes, the tournament also offers cash incentives to players throughout the tournament. Singles players will get P100 for every game they win during the elimination round, P300 during the match for third place and P500 in the championship round.
Any team that posts a 3-0 win-loss card in the elimination gets P300. The team that continue to win during the battle for third will get P600 and P1,000 during the championship match.
Entry fee for the event is pegged at P1,000. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
