The Asian College of Technology (ACT) Cyber Knights owned by Cebu City councilor Rodrigo “Bebot” Abellanosa beat the Salacut-Ave Maria Sanctuary of Liloan, 96-69, to remain unbeaten in the Lapu-Lapu City Fiesta basketball tournament at the Lapu-Lapu hardcourt last Sunday.
At 3-0, the Cyber Knights need only to win two more games to sweep their division and live up to their billing as the team to beat in the tournament.
“Dako na’g umento nga gipakita sa akong mga players. I hope we can maintain our poise until the championship,” said Cyber Knights coach Tate Merced. “What I like most is that aside from playing good basketball, all of them are attending their classes religiously,” Merced continued.
Merced has his assistant in Rex Salvaña, former coach of the University of Cebu (UC) Lady Webmasters, who piloted his team to a CESAFI grandslam.
Burly guard Prospeto Batiancila topscored for the Cyber Knights with 18 points, JC Ver Paraguya added 16 points, while Elmer Aparice and Michael Cadiz contributed 14 points apiece for the winners.
Arnel Lozano, a former USJ-R Jaguar, led Salacut with 15 points, with Villaver contributing 12 points.
