Indigenous Pinoy sports to spice up Oasis of Love anniversary celebration
At least 24 indigenous Filipino sports will highlight the 12th Founding Anniversary celebration of the Oasis of Love tomorrow at the Blessed Pope XXIII grounds and gymnasium in Ayala Business Park.
Robert “Bobby” Inoferio, a member of the Oasis of Love, is the chairman of the screening committee, while Bro. Arturo Go is the vice-chairman. Their members are Bro. Leonilo Oliva and Sisters Lani Najarro and Fely Atienza. Oliva will lead the Oath of Sportsmanship.
Inoferio said four teams will compete in the Games dubbed as “Dulang Pinoy 2007- Balik Dula sa Kagahapon.” This year’s theme is “Enhancing Individual Spirituality” through the teams playing in Dulang Pinoy.
The participating teams are Green-A (St. Matthew), Yellow-B (St. Mark), Blue-C (St. John) and Red-D (St. Luke).
Among the events to be contested are tubig-tubig, tuhog lastiko, kadang-kadang, kulob-hayang, bulan-bulan, tangday lastiko, takyan, piko-biko, yoyo, dama, sungka, taksi, palmo, jolen finish, shiomoy, C4 Fight, palm wrestling, arm wrestling, bato-lata, hula-hoop, pitik lastiko, jumping rope and bahaw-bahaw.
Inoferio said expected to grace the affair is Cebu Archbishop His Eminence Ricardo J. Cardinal Vidal. Cebu City Vice Mayor Michael L. Rama will deliver the opening remarks.
The event kicks off with a holy mass to be officiated by Bishop Julieto Cortes, the Auxilliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Cebu.
Bro. Nonito “Dodong” Limchua, the CCTN owner and head servant of the Oasis of Love, will formally declare the games open, while Sister Diana Limchua, the executive director of the Oasis of Love, will deliver the welcome address. (GGM)
